SHIRE HOUSE, HARRIS STREET - BRADFORD

This high spec building provides 2440 sqm of open-plan office space on five floors developed on a prominent brown-field site close to the city centre. The structure is steel framed with composite metal deck in-situ concrete suspended floors on traditional foundations.

Melia Smith & Jones provided full civil and structural engineering services to the client including the design of the superstructure, foundations, drainage and external works. The project involved the demolition of a fire damaged mill building with significant levels of asbestos contamination. The sloping nature of the site together with the presence of old cellars necessitated deep foundations and a suspended ground floor.
