NORBRECK CASTLE HOTEL, BLACKPOOL

Melia Smith & Jones have been involved in several new build and refurbishment projects at The Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool on behalf of Principal Hotels Ltd.

A full structural design service was provided on refurbishment and enlargement of the existing leisure club. This involved completely refurbishing the existing pool area and providing new gymnasium and changing rooms.

Melia Smith & Jones also acted as structural consultants on the remodelling of the 'Boston Stake Out' themed bar and restaurant and the 'Copper Face Jacks' bar.

Work involved detailed inspection and design of strengthening of the existing buildings to make the desired changes. MSJ worked closely with the Architects, Merrell O'Flaherty, and the contractors, Consilium Construction, to achieve a successful project for the client.

Melia Smith & Jones also carried out a visual examination of the whole hotel site, which involved all areas of the property, both public and 'back of house'.

The inspection covered the structural condition of the fabric of all of the buildings on the site, an interpretation of the causes of any defects found and gave recommendations on how best to manage the problems encountered. A full descriptive report, with a detailed photographic record, was produced, which also incorporating findings from previous reports carried out at the property by MSJ.
