WHITE OAK CENTRE SWANLEY, KENT

Overall Client: Sevenoaks District Council

Main Contractor (Design & Build): Whitewater Leisure Ltd

MSJ commission: 3D Slide Path Geometry, Slide Support Structure, Foundations.

Water slide details:
Slide A: 57m long, 0.8m dia. speed slide.
Slide B: 95m long, 1.4m dia. tube
Slide C: 120m long, 2.2m wide continuous tube ride with acrylic canopies.

The compact ature of the site presented a challenge in both physically fitting in the GRP slides and detailing the supports aroung them.

The overall project included a new access tower and splash pool building as an extension to the existing leisure centre.

Melia Smith & Jones have provided Structural Engineering Services for Whitewater Leisure Ltd on a large number of projects throught the UK, Europe, the Middle East and India.

Extensive use of computer aided design and drawing is made to cope with complex 3D slide paths and structures. MSJ have developed computer programs in-house interfaced with their CADD system to carry out these tasks.

Rendered perspective views can be created at proposal stage to enable the Client to fully visualise the impact of the development on their site.

Rider velocities and G forces can be assessed to ensure a safe installation.

Finally, detailed design and drawings ensure that site construction consists of assembling a kit of pre-fabricated and pre-drilled components.
