Apartments
Melia, Smith & Jones have been working in various areas of the Residential sector since inception. MSJ have experience in multi-storey apartment buildings in various materials including steel, concrete, timber frame and load bearing masonry. Our great range and depth of experience in these areas for over 25 years means that we have extensive expertise in this sector and are able to engineer economical solutions to the varying needs of our clients.
Lime Grove, Chapel Allerton, Leeds
A new build mixed use development in the heart of Chapel Allerton, creating new apartments above an arts centre and bar / restaurant.
Clevedon Retirement Village, Ilkely
The project involves the refurbishment, re-build and alteration of the original stone building of the former boarding school on the site. In addition to this, 4 new build apartment blocks are being created.
Cookridge Hospital
The projects involves repair and refurbishment of the original Cookridge Hospital building into apartments.

Crest Homes, Swarcliffe Road, Harrogate
The project involved the redevelopment of the former Harrogate Hospital site at Swarcliffe Road in Harrogate for Crest Homes Northern Ltd. MSJ carried out the design of foundations and superstructure for the various house types and apartment blocks.
Cromwell Farm, Hessay
The development consisted of 7 large detached houses and the reconfiguration and extension of the original farmhouse.
Private Clients
Melia, Smith & Jones have been working with various architects providing structural services for new build housing and alterations / extensions to existing structures.
In addition to our more commercial projects MSJ have a great depth of experience in self build, new build and domestic works. This ranges from the creation of new individual dwellings for clients, extensions, barn conversions and renovation works providing practical engineering solutions for construction by house builders.
Linton, Wetherby
The project consisted of 2 storey extension to an existing property. The new building included a steel frame to support the extension, concrete retaining walls for the swimming pool and reinforced concrete pad foundations. The roof structure included feature trusses constructed of solid oak and stainless steel elements.
Self Build, Leeds
This Self Build Project comprised of 3 families interested in creating an ecologically friendly environment in which to live. The scheme built 3 large 4/5 bedroom houses on a site in Leeds using timber from sustainable sources and other green materials.
